One Way or Another

Pavements across the world littered with footprints,
Some of them yours, some of them mine.
Wanderings across the streets, strides along the pier,
Some full of trepidation, some made with resolute decision.
I see a frozen frenzy laid out before me,
The chirp of a frustrated wrong turn in my ear.
I see jade birds glide over our heads,
They move so effortlessly from nest to nest.
Back on the ground, dirty tracks cross my path,
I follow them for a while, I confuse my destination.
